This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Ella - a 1 year old, Yellow Lab mix, who weighs 45 pounds (as of 4/17/25). This sweet golden girl was found as a stray and we're here to help her find her forever family!

Her foster shares: "Ella is quite the sweetheart, who is always ready to share a cuddle or a friendly nuzzle. She can be a bit shy during initial introductions, but don't let that fool you -- she's a gentle soul, who is eager to make friends and share her love. She also thrives with reassurance and attention. Her smile can light up any room. She shines around other pups and would love to have a resident BFF (but not a requirement). She loves a quiet evening with her humans while they read a good book, or would love to accompany you for calm walk in the park. She's looking for a forever home where she can share her love and affection. By adopting Ella, you will welcome home a friend who will cherish every moment spent with you."

It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
