Meet Dabi - a 2 year old, Airedale Terrier / Golden Retriever mix, who weighs 50 pounds (as of 5/26/25).

After spending time with Dabi after arrival it was shared "Dabi is so sweet and affectionate! He just gently wanted hugs standing on two legs whole time we were outside. He is a little more nervous than sister, Mey, but in a sweet way. He is just looking for a little comfort. He walks great on a leash and seems fully housebroken. I don't want to say I have a favorite from the trip to Mexica - because they are all some of the nicest dogs I have ever met - but if I did it would be Dabi!"

Dabi + Mey are siblings who were found as strays. Dabi is an energetic guy, who does great with other dogs, as he was living with a pack of 10 strays when we found him. He is incredibly friendly and loves making new friends. He is crate trained and well behaved on a leash. He also is great with kids, and cats, too. If you're looking for a scruffy sweetheart, look no further - Dabi is your guy!

Dabi is incredible sweet, but a bit shy. We have never heard him bark, he just wants gentle love. Dabi does best with a crate with the door open or off. This lets him know he has his safe space when needed, but he can also come out for love and I am sure as he learns to trust his new family he will be the most gentle, loving dog you could ever ask for. He will be your loyal partner for life.

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
