Meet Poochie
Poochie is an 11-year-old poodle with a heart as soft as his curly coat. He’s a quiet, thoughtful little guy who has been through a lot of changes recently and is looking for a calm, low-key home where he can truly exhale.
Once he knows you, Poochie is sweet and affectionate. He enjoys being outside in the sunshine, going on easy walks with mellow dog friends, and spending quiet time with his people. He’s not the kind of dog to rush into new situations, but given time and space, he’ll warm up and reward your patience with gentle companionship.
Poochie is a sensitive soul, and the transition to shelter life has been tough on him. He can be nervous in new environments and takes a little time to trust unfamiliar people. We’re looking for adopters who are willing to go at his pace: letting him settle in slowly, keeping his world small at first, and letting him initiate affection and interaction when he’s ready. A quiet home with a cozy spot just for him will help him feel safe as he adjusts.
He’s used to using pee pads in his previous home and may benefit from a consistent routine and positive reinforcement as he transitions to a new environment. He could potentially live with another calm dog or cat given a proper introduction, and we think he could be a good fit for a family with respectful, dog-savvy children who understand his need for space.
Poochie’s looking for someone who doesn’t mind slowing down. Someone who values peaceful mornings, short strolls, soft beds, and the quiet joy of earning a shy dog’s trust. If that sounds like you, come meet this sweet senior and see if he’s the perfect match for your calm and cozy life.
Stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center to meet Poochie. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm- 4:30pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
