Get ready for a story of resilience and strength!

Meet Jaxxon Rain - a 4 month old, Tree Walker Hound / Lab mix, who weighs 25 pounds (as of 7/3/25). This sweet boy was rescued in Mississippi after he had been thrown over a bridge and into the river. When we found him, he had been clinging onto a pile of brush in the middle of the river for over 24 hours - we're so happy we found him when we did! He is one tough cookie and he's ready to find his forever family.

His foster shares: "Jaxxon Rain is a young and lively pup with a heart as vast as his spirit. He is overflowing with sweetness and playfulness, and is always ready to engage in a fun game or two! His spirit and curiosity is infectious and is sure to make every day with him an adventure. Despite his tender age, Jaxxon Rain exhibits bravery beyond his years! He showed us his strength and will to live, and we are going to make sure he is never put in that scary situation again. His past experiences have not damped his spirits, but instead have strengthened his resilience and allowed him to appreciate each and every day! He is ready to share his love and bravery with a family who is ready to love him unconditionally!"

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
