Meet Bellacita - a 7 year old, Silky Terrier / Poodle mix, who weighs 11 pounds (as of 8/1/25). Bellacita was recently brought to America after being found in Parque Mexico City (when GDRNE's Co-Director was visiting).
If Bellacita could tell you about herself, here's what she would say: "Hello, My name is Bellacita. When I arrived in America, it took me a few days to adjust, but now I am just the perfect dog. My foster mom (Betsy) jokes that my breed mix is dog/cat/stuffed animal - I mean, just look at my face! My favorite thing to do is to sleep on the couch next to Betsy when she works. I also go to the office with her and I am the perfect girl who never disturbs anyone and puts a smile on everyone's face. I think I would make an excellent therapist as everyone loves to hold me and I love being rocked like a baby. I don't mind other dogs, but prefer small dogs as the big ones scare me a little. I love all humans; old/young, man or woman! Anyone who will pet and cuddle me is my friend. I am fine in the city, but walks are important to me and I love running around a yard to play with another small dog. I may be a snuggler but I also have some pep in my step!
Requirements for my human: You will be getting the best dog on earth, but I do ask for a few things back from you...Mainly LOVE, lots and lots of love. But, I also need to sleep in bed with you, be allowed on the couch, be taken for at least two walks per day and have someone sit with me while I eat. No one likes to dine alone! I also like my dog food mixed with salmon, tuna or shredded chicken so I hope you like to cook or can at least open a can :) I got used to good tacos during my time as a street dog in Mexico City! I do not have to live with another dog, but I do like playdates and would like to have little dog friends."
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.
To adopt or learn more about Bellacita, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] **
PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
