This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Cowboy + Ladybug - a dynamic duo of littermates who are 7 years old (born 12/26/17). They are Terrier / Dachschund / Chiweenie mixes. Cowboy weighs 31 pounds (male, black & white pup) and Ladybug is 22 pounds (female, all black) as of 8/10/25. They were surrendered to us by their previous owner who loved them fiercely and has had them since the day they were born. Their previous owner was completely devastated to give them up but a change in her living situation offered no other option.

Both dogs are very well behaved and are used to living in a home and cuddling on the couch with their people. They also sleep in bed at night and hope to continue to do that in their new home.

They are a little shy when meeting new people (especially men), but open up quickly.

Both dogs love to run and they are fast! They also love to romp around outside and have playtime. Chasing birds and squirrels is one of their favorite pastimes.

They are used to lining up every morning to get a snack before their owner left for work and have been spoiled!

They are both housebroken.

Both pups will follow their people around the house and are very affectionate and loving!

FYI: Cowboy is afraid of loud noises especially thunder and fireworks and will hide under the bed or dining room table. He also can be skittish with other dogs who bark at he unfortunately has been attacked twice by other dogs in the past.

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
