Meet Koa Koa - a 3 year old, Lab / Weimaraner / Terrier mix, who weighs 60 pounds (as of 8/13/25). This sweet boy was found as a stray in Mississippi and is looking for his forever family. Koa means warrior and that's exactly what he is. Koa Koa was found abandoned in a scary part of town where most of the humans were not nice to him. He was found all alone on the side of a busy highway, where he had been living in a parking lot. He was scabby and had almost no hair... but look at him now!! He is so grateful to be in our care and you can see that he is just so happy to be alive and have a second chance.

His foster shares: "Koa Koa is one of those special dogs who will quickly become your BFF. Koa Koa is a velcro dog. He loves to be near his people and will follow
you everywhere. He loves laying on his person's chest and just gazing into your eyes as he's falling asleep. He loves to get face rubs and kisses! His hair has grown back so well, and now he has silky soft fur and is simply stunning. He has the gentlest eyes just like his heart. He is a handsome HUNK of love. He is sweet,
gentle, and loves other dogs...he just wants to play. Koa Koa loves people and makes friends everywhere he goes. He is also good with cats! He knows basic commands (especially when treats are involved). Koa Koa is ready to make one lucky family very happy. He's a lovable guy who is ready to start his next chapter!"

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
