Meet Maggie - a 2 year old, Black Lab mix, who weighs 50 pounds (as of 9/29/25). She was found as a stray in Mississippi and is looking for a forever family to call her own!

Her foster shares: "Maggie is a joyful and loving companion looking for her forever home! She thrives in family environments and enjoys the company of children and other dogs. However, she has a playful instinct and loves to chase anything that moves, so she might not be the best fit for homes with small pets like cats. This water-loving gal has a blast splashing around and is always ready for outdoor adventures! Her favorite pastime? Chewing on her toys makes her happy! She has a nurturing spirit and is sure to bring joy and love to your household. She is great with other dogs and children. She needs to be in a cat-free home because she is known to chase cats (and chickens, cows, and horses). If you’re looking for a happy, active dog who will fill your life with love and laughter, Maggie would love to meet you!"

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

To adopt or learn more about Maggie, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] **

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
