Meet Sadie - a 6 year old, Plott Hound / Mountain Cur mix, who weighed 55 pounds (as of 8/31/25). This brindle beauty was found as a stray in Tennessee and is looking for a new family to call her own.

Some updates: We are introducing her to cats and though she's a little scared of them, she doesn't show any indication of wanting to harm them.

Her confidence has really improved the last couple of weeks. I really wish we could take her out in public more often. She's not a fan of car rides as much just yet.

She's a sensitive dog... loud noises and thunder scare her. she might be better around older kids because small kids may be too loud and rowdy for her.

Her foster shares: "Sadie is the most sweet and loving dog! She can be a bit shy and timid until she builds trust - but then she is your built in BFF! Sadie gets along well with all other dogs and loves playing with her small dog friend, Ricky, who is also a foster. She loves him and they have become best friends.

They love to play with all their stuffed toys, ropes and tennis balls for hours. Sadie would love to find a home where she has a resident playmate.

She's house trained and goes into a crate but prefers to snooze in her dog bed.

She has a pretty calm temperament and enjoys relaxing and receiving belly rubs. Sadie seemed a little sad when she first came, maybe due to her past, but her new friends have helped her settle in and she's a very happy girl.

She walks really well on a leash and sits on command and believe with patience and consistency, she'd be able to learn new commands. Sadie is a large dog with a beautiful brindle coat. She can't wait to become your loyal BFF!"

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
