This boy is named after the god of war - but really he is the master of snuggles!
Meet Kratos - a 1 yr old, Great Dane / Black German Shepherd mix, who weighs 80 pounds (as of 10/9/25).
His foster mom shares: Kratos is a love! He has settled in beautifully. He instantly rolls over for a belly rub for the kids, and loves to lay on the floor with them.
Despite his size, he seems intimidated by the cats and has paid our guinea pigs no mind when they are in their cage (we put him in his crate when they are out and about for cage cleanings).
He likes having access to his crate as his safe space, enjoys toys, LOVES being outside, and is very affectionate. He'd be a great family dog.
"Kratos is a handsome, young fella who is about one years old. He is a friendly, fun-loving dog who would really like to find his forever family.
His mom is a small-medium size black German Shepherd Dog and his dad is a large black Great Dane. Kratos is a bit shy with new people but once he knowns he can trust them, he warms right up.
He is house trained, crate trained, gets along with four other very large dogs in his foster home and seems to be fine with cats, too.
Kratos has been around kids (a 6 YO and teenagers), and does great with them.
Kratos is sure to be your loyal and faithful companion!"
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
