Meet Wicket Cute - a 1.5 year old, Pekingese, who weighs a healthy 8 pounds (as of 11/15/25). Wicket Cute was rescued as part of an operation to shut down a backyard breeder/hoarding situation in Tennessee. The police were called in to close down this negligent and abusive operation and Great Dog Rescue, along with our southern partner, stepped up to bring these dogs to Massachusetts and give them loving homes.

GDRNE's Assistant Director shares: "I have been involved in the rescue of nearly 30,000 dogs, and I am not sure I have ever fallen for one quite as much as I have fallen for Wicket Cute. He is just the sweetest little ball of Adorableness and looks just like a gremlin. When I met him at the kennel, Wicket Cute was happy to have me pick him up and snuggle him, put him in a cozy sweater and prepare him for our photo shoot! Although it is hard to know his full personality, since he was just rescued and has been through a lot recently, he seems like a well-adjusted and loving pup who just wants a good home where people will adore him, snuggle him, let him sleep on the couch with them and take him on small adventures.
Due to his horrible upbringing, Wicked Cute has not had any official training and will need someone dedicated to helping him become the best family member he can be. With proper nutrition, healthcare and exercise, the Pekingese breed can live a long life with an average expectancy of 12 to 16 years. Since Wicket Cute is practically a baby, his lucky new family should be prepared to have him for decades to come!"

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
