Meet Loucho! Loucho is a three-year-old Shar-Pei who came to QAS due to allergies of humans in the home. He is very typical of his breed—loyal, calm, protective, and dignified. Shar-Peis can be a bit aloof at first, which can make meet-and-greets feel challenging, and Loucho is no exception. He’s often more interested in the world around him than the people in front of him. That said, once given time and space to connect, Loucho forms a deep and devoted bond with his people.
Loucho’s only real “issue” is a chicken allergy, which can cause skin problems—so no chicken-based food or treats, please. Otherwise, he’s a great companion! He walks well on leash, enjoys being playful, and loves to explore and sniff his surroundings. He approaches new environments with confidence and curiosity.
Loucho may bark at dogs from a distance but up close he shows clear interest. He has not lived with another dog, so we are looking for a home where he can be the only dog. He also seems too interested in cats to live safely with one.
Loucho will be neutered prior to finalizing his adoption. If you’re a Shar-Pei fan—or someone who appreciates a thoughtful, loyal dog who just needs a little time to warm up—Loucho may be the perfect match for you.
