Hello friends, I'm Nova! I'm an 11-month-old, neutered male, German Shorthair Pointer mix. I am expected to grow to be about 75lbs when I'm an adult. I'm a sweet young fellow with a ton of energy who loves getting attention and affection when I'm not playing fetch with my favorite toys! Because I'm a working-type dog with a super amazing nose; I keep my nose to the ground, sniffing my next adventure. I would like to go home with a family who is experienced with my breed. I'd be perfect for a family with dog savvy kids 10+. If you have any resident dogs, I'd love to meet the whole family before I move in. I recently went on a field trip with a PHS Volunteer! Here's how I did:
We walked one lap around the building before going to my car. Nova looked into the back seat, took a few seconds to assess the situation, and then jumped in. Nova behaved well during the car ride, although I initially gave him too much slack on the leash, allowing him to move into the front seat. Once we arrived in my neighborhood, we visited the vendors who were setting up for the street fair. Nova pulled strongly because he wanted to investigate everything. He saw several small, Yorkie-sized dogs but was more interested in the surrounding sights, sounds, and smells. On the way back to my house, he stopped and held a point on a scent. When we arrived at my yard, Nova wandered around and explored the layout. We then played fetch with various balls, stuffies, and Kongs. He was enthusiastic about retrieving the toys but was less interested in releasing them. I threw another toy, which caused him to drop the toy in his mouth and chase after the new one. Nova enjoyed drinking from the spray nozzle of the hose. I allowed him to chase the stream of water for a while before we returned to Lantos. For the drive back, I kept Nova on a short leash. He was happy to sniff out of the back window.  Nova has a good foundation in “sit” and “lie down.” However, when I attempted to transition from “sit” into “stay” and walk behind him, he followed me instead of remaining in place. Overall, he is very good boy with a lot of potential. Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.

We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around!
