Meet Ezra Equinox from the EQUINOX litter! This litter includes 5 sweet pups (Evie, Emmie, Ezra, Eddie and Emmo) who were found in an abandoned lot near a shopping center in Puerto Rico. They were living there with a pack of 15 other dogs. They are lab/retriever mixes, who appear to be a 1 yr old and 49 pounds (as of 12/9/24.)
Recent UPDATE: Ezra continues to take baby steps forward. He’s almost proficient in sit and stay. This past wknd we started working on long lead recall and he did really well. He walks with me everyday in Back Bay and does great with the pack. He crates nicely and I would consider him potty trained (one mishap which was my fault). I just know that given the right person he will flourish in his forever home!
New foster UPDATE: Ezra has been with me, in the city, for two weeks now. Outside he is very vigilant, but has found confidence in walking the same routes and he has excelled in house training with consistent supervision and crating. Occasionally I catch him chewing on inappropriate items but he responds quickly to ‘eh-eh’. He remains cautious of people, shy but never aggressive. Inside he’ll occasionally woof but rarely barks and settles in his bed easily. I haven’t had the opportunity to leave him alone yet so crate training is still a work in progress though he does crate nicely in the car, with no objection.
Starting this week, he’ll be coming to work with me so my next update should have more feedback about his adjustment. I think he could go just about anywhere as long as the adopters are willing to keep up with the structure and be patient in letting him feel secure. He has a very silly personality and is quite entertaining to watch play!
Ezra's foster family shares "Ezra is a timid boy, especially around men. He latched right onto our son, and will follow him around and take pets from him all day; he has a good relationship with my wife as well, and he will spend his entire day with her in her office when she's working from home. He is a very well-behaved boy in general, and enjoys playing with the other dogs on occasion. I think he would be happy in the home as your only dog with access to a dog park or socialization time, or with one other dog his size in your home. He is almost housebroken at this point and will just need a little adjustment at his new home. This boy is shy sure, but with patience and love we know he is going to blossom into a wonderful family companion!"
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
