Meet Eddie - an 8-9 year old, American Foxhound mix, who weighs 65 pounds (As of 5/9/25). This sweet hound was found as a stray when he was wandering around someone's farm.

His foster shares: "Eddie is such a sweet boy! He’s great with the other dogs and is absolutely adorable when he is playing with toys and chasing balls. He gets them and runs into an open crate with his treasure - he is always so proud of his prize! Eddie rides well in the car, and loves it when he has freedom to explore our fenced in yard and just follow his nose wherever it takes him! When he isn't playing with toys or going on a sniff-ari, he’s pretty much a big old couch potato.
While he likes to snooze, he does enjoy getting outdoors and stretching his legs, too. This older guy is looking for a family where he can enjoy life's simple pleasures - like a warm bed, a fuzzy toy, and a family to love."

Tonight when I took him out he pulled for the first 200 yards, and then was good.

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
