With this girl by your side, there are no tricks... just treats!
Meet Butterfinger - a 3 year old, Boxer / Bulldog mix, who weighs 38 pounds (as of 4/11/25). This girl was found as a stray in a rural area after she wandered up to a stranger's house. We are so happy we found her when we did and were able to give her food, shelter and lots of love!
Her foster shares: "Butterfinger is the happiest dog you will ever meet! She appears to be well on her way to be house broken and should not be a problem once she settles into her new home. Butterfinger loves to please her humans, and is a good listener and eager to learn. She always does her best to make her humans proud! She gets along with other dogs, and loves everyone she meets.
She is a super smart girl, too! A few pictures show her tail wrapped. Nothing to be concerned about... it's wrapped because she has 'happy tail' from when she was in the kennel. She was wagging her tail too much, and the wall got in the way.
She is a happy, happy girl who just wags her tail all the time. She's looking for a family to share her love and happiness with!"
She has shorter legs than I expected which makes her even cuter I think! Don’t think she could ever meet a stranger. Absolute doll. I think she will be an exceptional dog for someone. Does have a decent amount of energy. I have no doubt she would be a couch sunggler.
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
