Jinkies!! These pups are named after the Scooby Doo crew and they are ready to help you solve any MYSTERY!
Meet Velma Mystery - a 19 week old, Husky mix, who weighs approximately 16 pounds (as of 4/24/25).
Ruh-roh! Missing a best friend? Look no further—Velma Mystery is on the case!
Are you searching for a smart, playful pup who’s ready to join your gang? Then hop in the Mystery Machine and meet Velma Mystery, a 4.5-month-old husky/collie mix who's part cuddlebug, part crime-solver!
Smart as a whip (and just as fast!), Velma’s already making impressive progress with her house and crate training. She's a curious little sleuth who loves to explore the yard, play with other dogs, and solve mysteries like “Where did I bury that squeaky toy?”
She is a petite 15 lbs but she is full of love, loyalty and puppy “Ruh-rohs”! Whether she’s chasing clues or cuddling on the couch, Velma’s ready to be your trusty sidekick.
So grab your Scooby Snacks and come meet your new best friend—because this is one mystery you’ll be glad to solve!
Her new northern foster mom shares: Velma is also doing very well. She is smart and she’s doing well walking on the leash with us. She likes to be in the front of the walking group and wants all her friends to be together. She is an energetic puppy, but she’s very easy to redirect and she’s good about channeling that energy into enrichment bowls and frozen stuffed Kings. She will entertain herself with toys too. Hilariously, she gets zoomies for a few minutes and then crashes and sleeps for hours.
Velma does follow the cues of the family. When we relax, she’s good about snuggling in and falling asleep with us. She loves to sleep on top of one of our resident dogs. She cleans our dog’s ears for her. She LOVES her fellow foster puppy. They trot around the house together.
Velma has met several neighborhood dogs and she had done really well with them. There is one dog, in particular, who she HAS to stop to visit. He’s a large boxer and she adores him.
Velma has met our cats and she’s done well with them. She’s not terribly interested in them. She’ll sniff them a bit, tilt her head at them as if to say, “what in the world are you?”, and then walks away.
Velma is eating well. She loves carrots and blueberries, so we've been giving her those as snacks and treats. She is very food motivated. We're working on sits and she is getting there quickly - she is a smart gal!
She will want a family committed to training like any dog (especially a smart one) really needs. She is going to be a wonderful companion!!
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
